A Space to Be Seen and Heard: Inside the Angels of Epilepsy Monthly Support Group

Living with epilepsy can feel isolating—especially when the challenges extend beyond seizures into daily routines, relationships, and emotional well-being. For survivors, parents, and caregivers alike, having a place where experiences are understood without explanation can be deeply meaningful.

That is why Angels of Epilepsy’s Monthly Support Group exists. It is more than a meeting—it is a space for connection, listening, and shared understanding within the epilepsy community.

A Monthly Gathering Rooted in Community

Each month, Angels of Epilepsy hosts a virtual support group designed specifically for epilepsy survivors, parents, and caregivers. These gatherings offer a safe and welcoming environment where participants can speak openly, ask questions, and connect with others who truly understand the realities of living with epilepsy.

The support group meets on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm EST (6:00pm CST), making it accessible for families and individuals across different regions. Held online, the format allows participants to join from the comfort of their own homes—whether that means logging in after a long day, listening quietly, or actively sharing their story.

Why Support Groups Matter

Epilepsy affects more than the individual diagnosed—it impacts entire families. Caregivers carry responsibility, parents carry worry, and survivors often carry invisible emotional weight. The monthly support group creates space for all of these experiences to exist without judgment.

In these meetings, participants often find:

  • Reassurance that their feelings are valid

  • Comfort in shared experiences

  • Encouragement from others who have walked similar paths

  • A sense of belonging that extends beyond the screen

Sometimes, simply knowing you are not alone can make all the difference.

What to Expect During a Support Group Meeting

AOE support group meetings are intentionally structured to feel approachable and inclusive. There is no pressure to speak, no requirement to share, and no expectation beyond showing up as you are.

Participants may listen, reflect, or engage in conversation as they feel comfortable. The tone is respectful, compassionate, and community-centered—guided by the understanding that every epilepsy journey is different.
